Chartwell Castle Events Venue, B&B & Restaurant

Nestled along the Klein Jukskei River, just 30 minutes from Greater Johannesburg’s bustling city center, sits the majestic Chartwell Castle. This grand four-story structure, reminiscent of late 17th-century architecture, occupies 5 hectares (12 acres) of serene Chartwell West.

Conveniently located near major thoroughfares, shopping hubs like Fourways Mall and Cedar Square, entertainment destinations including Montecasino, Lanseria Airport, and Fourways Life Hospital, Chartwell Castle offers both tranquility and accessibility.

Our guest house exudes spaciousness and tranquility, surrounded by lush gardens and a refreshing swimming pool. Notably, we boast the largest uninterrupted hedgerow maze in the Southern Hemisphere – spanning over 6000 sq.m. (approximately 1.5 acres), rivaling the famed Hampton Court Maze.

In addition to our luxurious accommodations, Chartwell Castle also features versatile event venues suitable for weddings, conferences, and special occasions. Our experienced team will ensure every detail is meticulously planned and executed, creating unforgettable memories for you and your guests.

For a culinary experience to remember, indulge in our onsite restaurant, offering delectable dishes crafted from locally sourced ingredients. Whether it’s a romantic dinner for two or a gathering with friends and family, our restaurant provides the perfect ambiance to savor exceptional cuisine.

With five elegantly appointed suites, each featuring private bathrooms and under-floor heating, we accommodate up to 13 guests. Breakfast is served between 06h30 and 10h00, although arrangements can be made for earlier service upon request.

Welcome to Chartwell Castle, where we invite you to unwind, celebrate, and dine in style amidst the beauty of Johannesburg’s outskirts.

We went to the castle for a night, to escape the rat race without needing to drive too far. It was lovely! Tamara was very welcoming and dinner was delicious, as was breakfast! We were 15 minutes from home, but felt like we were in another world! We hope to be back!

We stayed at the Castle during the night of the 4th and the 5th of April, and loved it. Just too short!

Driving in I thought that this place looks nice but when we met the staff I realize what is nice. Friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to a bigger and better room at no additional cost seeing that it was Easter weekend and they did not have many guests. Then the exploring of the grounds happened, so peaceful the gardens. You can really recharge and a Castle away from home.

It was a wonderful stay. The hospitality was amazing. What an experience. I’ll recommend Chartwell Castle to anyone who wants to take a break from home, but doesn’t want to travel too far, and at a very reasonable price.

The quiet seclusion and beautiful gardens. It’s almost unbelievable that the biggest city in SA is just outside the hedges.

I would just like to say thanks to all at Chartwell Castle. We stayed there for the Swanepoel wedding yesterday and everything was amazing. Stunning venue and great staff! Special thanks to Kevin for sorting us out with anything we needed. Will definitely recommend to others!
